jvzoo-promoI had the opportunity to attend JVZoo’s “Marketing Mayhem” event in Orlando, Florida this past Thursday-Sunday. It was in a word…amazing!

I’m sure many of you are curious on what an internet marketing conference is like, so I’d love to share. This post will cover some of the highlights of the whirlwind that was my last four days.  I am also going to be sharing the four best “revelations” that I had while I was there, and how they will be changing my business and mindset.

This was my first full internet marketing conference, so I didn’t really know what to expect. Early Thursday morning, I got lots of kisses and hugs from my family, and was on my way.

I arrived at the hotel just an hour before the conference started. The hotel was beautiful, by the way. I checked in and headed for registration.

The first session was exclusive for VIP’s only (a higher-priced ticket). I figured it was worth it to get an extra day in, especially considering it included a private round-table discussion featuring all of the expert panelists that would be speaking throughout the long weekend. In hindsight, the VIP was definitely worth it.

There really isn’t a way to describe being in a room with hundreds of internet marketers. It is even harder to imagine being surrounded by people that are making five figures, six figures, per month (or day!?!).

Personal Revelation #1: “Us” Internet Marketers Are Different From Other People, And We NEED To Be Around Each Other Sometimes

jvzoo-1For example, while I was in the bathroom, I overheard a discussion on increasing email open rates. I mean come on, how often do you hear a conversation like THAT in the bathroom?

It really hit me how “niche” our industry is, and how having my mind in it’s own little box is really holding it back.  I need to make sure I am developing relationships with other marketers and like-minded individuals, and you really need to be too.

The conference featured many high-level marketers, including my pal Mike Filsaime (who went through how to construct a video sales letter- very cool), the creators of Teespring (wow!), Todd Gross (#1 Affiliate at JVZoo, amazing speaker), and many more.

One thing that really stood out to me was that the content the speakers shared was really valuable. I didn’t really know what to expect, and the tone of the presentations was pretty much “this is what I do, so you can do it too”.

For example, Todd Gross gave an amazing presentation where he explained how his unique approach led him to triple his sales and become the #1 affiliate on JVZoo.  Did you know that Todd use to be a weather man?  Yeah, me neither!  I was particularly interested in Todd’s “secret sauce” and am very excited to be applying more of his techniques to my own approach.

Personal Revelation #2: Not Every Marketer Is Out To “Fleece” Us

Getting Ready For The 80’s Party Mixer – Go Mega Man!

We have all bought a bad course before, right?  There are plenty of them out there.  I know that earlier in my internet marketing career, I went down some pretty disastrous paths, trying different things that were never going to pan out. Like you I’m sure, I’ve had my share of disappointing courses or products that I’ve picked up.

This had led me to become skeptical and guarded, whenever approaching a course or product. I make sure to only offer good stuff when emailing those on my list, but I must admit that I sat at the JVZoo event fully expecting to hear “lame” presentations.

I couldn’t have been more wrong.  Each high profile marketer got up and shared what they were doing.  Every presentation that I saw was amazing.  I think a key thing to note here is that the top level marketers have gotten to where they are because they are great at what they do.  And they are constantly trying to help others succeed.  It was certainly evident in the material that I saw.

Terrible courses and marketers are still out there, but they tend to get weeded out over time.  If someone is considered a “leader of the industry”, I suggest you perk your ears up and listen to what they have to say.

As fantastic as the presentations were, everybody told me that the true value of being there was the networking opportunity.  I also found this to be VERY true.  I got to see the internet’s finest marketers at their best, and also craziest.

Yeah…This Happened!

This post is getting a bit long, so tomorrow I’ll continue it.  I’ll be sharing more about my experience, some of the crazy stuff that happened at the parties, what it was like to meet Vanilla Ice, and the other 2 amazing mental notes that I left there with.  But I have to leave you with some sort of tease right?
